Ford electrifies the #1 selling vehicle in North American with the all new, all electric F-150 Lightning.

Ford claims the base electric F-150 Lightning with the single motor will provide a range of 230 miles.  However, with the extended range battery, Ford is claiming a range of 300 miles in between charges.

Ford claims the new F-150 Lightning will tow up to 10,000 lbs.  What is yet to be revealed is the range of the truck when towing.  We all know that towing dramatically decreases your MPGs when towing a gas truck.  It also reduces the range of an electric.  However, we don’t know how what towing deficit will be.

Ford claims they want the new F-150 lightning will be capable of carrying a full ton or 2,000 lbs of cargo as its maximum payload capacity.  In other words, it’s still built Ford Tough and fully capable.

Ford also claims the new Lightning will be Ford’s fastest pickup with 0-60 MPH acceleration in the mid 4 second range.  (Remember back in the 80s when the fastest thing accelerating was a 427 Cobra with 0-60 times of 4.2 seconds?). This thing is ridiculously fast!

Ford claims the dual motor version will have 563 horsepower and a whopping 775 pound feet of torque.  That will definitely outperform my 5.0 F-150’s 380 horsepower with 0-60 times in the upper 6s.  Geez.
