I have for sale my 2016 Ford Taurus Police Interceptor 3.7 Flex Fuel V6 with a new water pump and timing chain! More on that below. Miles are 94k. This car has optional all wheel drive (front wheel drive is standard). It runs and drives perfect. Everything operates as it should. The body and interior is clean and in good condition. There are no “check engine” lights or any other warning lights illuminated and it has no known problems. It has the optional 3.7 liter V6 engine. The standard engine is the 3.5 liter V-6 gas engine. The 3.7 takes you from 288 hp up to 305 hp.
One of the biggest reasons you should buy this car over any other Taurus currently for sale is that this car just had the water pump replaced 2,000 miles ago, along with all 3 the timing chains and the other timing components. The only weak part of these cars is the water pump. When it starts leaking, it’s expensive to replace because it’s turned by the timing chain rather than by a belt. The book says water pump replacement is a 22 hour job because a lot of parts need to come off, including the timing chain. Replacing the water pump alone is $2,000-$2,500 for parts and labor. Add $1,000 more for replacing the timing chain components “while you’re in there”. That would be a lot more, but one of the timing chains has to come off when you replace the pump. If you are looking at a Taurus, always ask for if this has been done. If it hasn’t been done yet, you will need to budget for that. Because it will need to be done sooner or later.
The Police Interceptor package gets you a bunch of extra performance equipment that you can’t get on a regular Taurus.
1) High performance air conditioning system that will be cold even when it is humid and in the 90’s. The standard Taurus Takes 1.44 pounds of refrigerant. The police interceptor takes 1.81 pounds. Which is a 25% larger capacity. It also has a larger A/C condenser, and a larger A/C compressor. So if you like cold AC on hot days, you want one of these!
2) High performance brake package. This consists of larger brake rotors and larger brake calipers on the front and rear. The only other Taurus that gets this brake package is the twin-turbo Taurus SHO (Super High Output). And this high performance brake package is optional even in the SHO!
3) high capacity cooling system.
4) Heavy duty 6-speed automatic transmission
5) High output alternator (220 amp vs 175 amp)
6) Heavy duty suspension package
7) Interceptor comes with engine oil cooler, transmission oil cooler, and power steering fluid cooler. So everything will run cooler and last longer
It has a clean Florida title in my name.
This car was previously owned by the city of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. It was meticulously maintained. Oil changes and all other maintenance was done at intervals recommended by Ford.
