2000 VW Eurovan

You are looking at a 2000 T4 Eurovan with the Winnebago Industries camper conversion. We purchased it as a bone stock model in 2019 and immediately set about upgrading it to the tune of about $60,000.

Before I get into the mechanicals, I’d like to say that Selah has been our baby for four years. We’ve explored the Western U.S., drove across the United States on a 13-state journey from California to Florida, and explored much of the southern U.S. and Baja California. Now we mostly use her to tailgate rocket launches from Cape Canaveral. She’s won five car show awards (see below) and has her own Instagram account @selahthewondervan.

The only reason we’re parting with her is that we’ve gone everywhere we can within range of where we live and figure it’s time for someone else to have some great adventures with her. (And we got a boat).

Thanks for hearing me out. On to the basics!

The basics:
Engine – 2.8 liter VR6 – We had the top end rebuilt by Tomas Sport Tuning in Berkeley when we bought her . Work included replacing the timing chain and tensioners.

Transmission – Original four-speed automatic transmission was replaced at 175,182 miles with a rebuild from German Transaxle of America in Bend, Ore. Note: It will occasionally hesitate for a split second going from first to second. It’s done that since the day it was installed and we’ve put 58,000 miles on it since then with no issue.

Suspension – GoWesty lift kit with Fox shocks, 16-inch black wheels and GeoLander tires. Two new Geolanders on the front and a brand new spare mounted under the van.
Brakes – Stock system with new rotors on the front.

Odometer – 233,000 miles

Camper package – Standard camper package with fully-functional stove, sink and propane stove. We never used the stove and only fired up the sink to sanitize the water tank. The refrigerator works fine, but they were never particularly efficient. We almost always pack an Igloo cooler. New GoWesty propane system – filled but never used. Van comes standard with fresh and grey water tanks and external connections for shore power and water. We use shore power all the time. Never used shore water.

Dashboard – Four spoke steering wheel. Instruments all work.

Electrical – All electrical works perfectly. Air conditioning blows cold. Sale includes two fog lights we never got around to installing.

Pop-top – Repainted the pop top, replaced canvas, rubber seals and pistons. There are a couple of grease spots and small tears where the scissor lift pieces pinched the fabric. Upper bed has the original pad that’s in great shape and was never slept on while we’ve had it. There is a moisture stain on the canvas that we’ve cleaned up, but you can see it.

Main sleeping area – Van comes with all seats and headrests. Full-size bed is in great shape and comes with an egg-crate foam pad that makes it incredibly comfortable. Standard Eurovan camper storage – drawers, cupboards, under bed and wardrobe – are in great shape. All electrical outlets work fine.

Manuals, records and registration – Van comes with manufacturer’s literature and full service records. Clean Florida title. Carfax lists four previous owners with registration history in Massachusetts, Vermont, California and Florida. No accidents or damage reported and 36 service records.

Additional modifications include:
Repainted Lexus green (Code number S2624)
800-watt GoWesty solar panel system, 1100 watt inverter and auxiliary battery.
New GoWesty propane system – never used it.
270-degree swing-arm Alu-Cab awning.
Viper alarm system
Owl Camera (outdated, but we keep it to deter evil-doers)
Alpine stereo head unit with USB and bluetooth and with four speakers (Two in door panels, two mid-cabin).
Tinted windows
Fender guards
Rino-linered bumpers and lower side panels
Tow hitch and tow electrical connectors. We used the hitch for a bike rack. We never towed anything
Telescoping GoWesty ladder for poptop bed
Fog lights – not installed but included
Two RV plug electrical adapters
Custom-fabbed propane tank refill extender pipe

Carfax reports no accidents but it did have some dents when we acquired it. We had them removed and subsequent to the new paint job we had to have the sliding door professionally repainted after someone opened their car door and dinged it. GRRR. The sliding door is slightly darker than the rest of the van.

Won five car show awards:
Award One – Santa Cruz Dub’n show award
Award Two – North Bay Air-Cooled (Vacaville) – 2nd Place Class 7: Vanagon and Eurovan (We were told we would have taken first had we arrived earlier)
Award Three – Sacra Vochos Daily Driver
Award Four – Turkey Van Run – Best Import
Award Five – Turkey Van Run – Best Look-a-Like

We had her serviced just before posting. Work included a new coil and oil change. We want her to be ready to roll when you receive her.
