A tribute to the new-age Corvette: The 6.2 liter V8, 495 Horsepower mid-engine American icon. Still $62K!
2022 marks the continuation of the Corvette’s spectacular rebirth as a mid-engine sports car with mind-bending styling that when seen, just cannot be ignored. The streets of Miami have become crowded with exotics and EVs, but the Corvette brings a rich past (who could resist a 1966 Corvette convertible?)
The Corvette delivers exhilarating quickness, superb handling and lush comfort on the road. But the big difference between the mighty Corvette and the Porsches, Maseratis, McLarens and the pack of current supercars — is the price. The $62K base pricetag gives buyers more for their money — a lot more. The new race-inspired C8.R Edition package honors the long history of the Corvette’s motorsports success across the decades. Base versions of this coupe are well equipped to compete against the likes of the BMW M4 and Porsche 911.
Along with it’s growling powerplant, the launch-control abilities of the dual-clutch automatic and the newfound traction from the mid-engine layout enables the Vette blasts to 60 mph in a mere 2.8 seconds. Incredibly tight, sharp steering makes for incredible handling, the Corvette corners at up to its heady 1.03-g cornering capability — and stops from triple-digit speeds take place without the slightest fluster.
The Corvette delivers a supercar experience at a sports-car $62,195 starting price. And that next-level vibe extends beyond its go-fast abilities and test numbers. This eighth-generation Corvette has a no-excuses interior in its upper trim levels, with a nearly Italian flair to its multitiered and multicolored leather trim. Chevrolet also now offers more customization options than before, in terms of interior, brake-caliper paint, and, yes, even seatbelt colors. You can even choose your own VIN or take delivery at the National Corvette Museum, adjacent to the assembly plant in Bowling Green, Kentucky.
The Latest Technology The Corvette benefits from Chevrolet’s newest infotainment system. The graphics are crisp and modern, and the touchscreen’s proximity to the driver makes it easy to operate. As small as the interior is, the optional 14-speaker Bose audio system manages to produce high-quality sound with plenty of power. Wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity is also standard.
