The “Jeep” (G.I. slang for “General Purpose” vehicle), has become one of America’s most recognized and endeared Icons. It began as a battle-hardened hero of WW II and became the original SUV. It’s been revered for its reliability and toughness since the first “Jeep” rolled off the assembly line to answer the call during the war effort. (By the way, the official name of the vehicle was the “Willys-Overland MB”.) Whatever the name, it’s always been ready to rumble.
Today, The new Jeep Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer take the battle to the world’s finest SUV manufacturers. We were very impressed — this is a dignified giant. The introduction of this vehicle is somewhat risky — it’s entering a very crowded market sector — but Jeep is counting on a successful resurrection of a famous name from its past.
The Wagoneer— It’s not your dad’s Jeep.
We found that this large SUV supremely easy to drive — on the highway and on surface streets. Solid and comfortable, the Grand Wagoneer feels supple, with just a hint of the V8 growl coming through. Comfortable? With three rows of seating available for up to eight passengers, outstanding second-and third-row spaciousness and customizable features, the Grand Wagoneer delivers versatility and comfort big time.
“The 2022 Jeep Wagoneer has a real chance of taking the top spot in our large SUV rankings right out of the gate.”

Surprising luxurious interior! An astounding 75 inches of pixel-perfect screens are available throughout the first and second rows. Each display offers a unique way to enhance your connection with your vehicle. From viewing trip information and controlling different comfort levels to accessing in-vehicle entertainment, Grand Wagoneer offers incredible ways to engage with the journey.
American walnut and authentic metal surfaces deliver an inviting style, the cool contrast of deeply grained wood and flawlessly finished metal.
Enzo Ferrari said about the Jeep, “Jeep is America’s only real sports car.” He understood that our enduring love affair with the Jeep is as complex as the vehicle’s turbulent history. That history, fitting for any novel, features a young country gearing up to fight in a world war, military leadership that believed in creativity as a means of problem-solving — all with a sense of adventure. By the way, the Grand Wagoneer can sprint from 0 to 60 mph in 6 seconds, which is impressive considering its size.
Before you buy an Explorer, Tahoe, Navigator, Suburban, Yukon, Armada, Land Rover or Escalade! In fact, before you by any full size SUV…
Set to take on the likes of the Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban, the Ford Expedition, the Nissan Armada and others, the 2022 Wagoneer boasts a screaming 392-hp 5.7-liter V-8 engine which is supported by a 48-volt hybrid system and offers a fuel-saving cylinder deactivation feature. The Wagoneer uses the newest version of Jeep’s infotainment interface powered by Uconnect 5.
An eight-speed automatic transmission is standard power, 10,000 pounds of towing capacity, and a deluxe interior. Speaking of the interior, it’s heavy on tech, with up to five available displays, including one that’s dedicated to the front passenger. Rear-wheel drive is standard, but we figure most buyers will upgrade to one of the Wagoneer’s available four-wheel drive systems; an optional air suspension is also offered and gives the big Jeep even more off-road capability.
The Wagoneer is new for Jeep for 2022, but it’s hardly a new name for the brand. The Wagoneer name badge first appeared in 1963 alongside that of the luxurious Grand Wagoneer SUV. It was also used on a trim level for versions of the brand’s Cherokee and Grand Cherokee models in the 1990s.
The past.
The Willys-Overland MB was the vehicle that eventually saw the battle field, and it was the most versatile automobile the military had ever experienced. The MB is credited with modernizing warfare, thus inspiring General Dwight D. Eisenhower to conclude that “America could not have won World War II without it.” Reporter Ernie Pyle summed up the MB’s ample functionality as “It did everything. It went everywhere. Was as faithful as a dog, as strong as a mule, as agile as a goat.”
The future.
The Grand Wagoneer exterior demonstrates the dramatic impact made by fine detail. Featuring an intricately designed grille and meticulously crafted finishes, this is a vehicle that revels in refinement.
Grand Wagoneer offers a wealth of features that deeply connect you to your vehicle. Artfully designed and simply intuitive, each piece of technology is an achievement in both style and performance.
WAGONEER & GRAND WAGONEER
The Grand Wagoneer is like the standard Wagoneer, but with a little extra. The Wagoneer is available in Series I, II and III trims; the Grand Wagoneer gets all those plus a high-level Obsidian model. Both Jeeps have LED lighting all around, but the Grand Wagoneer also gets a black roof, unique hood and different grille. Similarly, the Grand Wagoneer is available in three additional exterior colors and comes with black trim and badging, as well as body-colored wheel and door flares. Both Jeeps can be had with 20- or 22-inch wheels.
