The Ford Expedition is a full-size three-row SUV, manufactured by automobile manufacturer Ford. Introduced for the 1997 model year as the successor of the Ford Bronco, the Expedition was the first full-size Ford SUV sold with a four-door body. For its entire production life, the Ford Expedition has been derived from the corresponding generation of the Ford F-150 in production, sharing some body and mechanical components. Similar to the Chevy Tahoe and Suburban, the Expedition is sold in regular and extended lengths (EL); Expedition also has a high-end trim Eddie Bauer edition similar to the Ford Explorer which includes interior upgrades. Top competitors have also been the Yukon, Sequoia, Armada, Palisade and Telluride. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) gives it five stars overall, the highest safety rating possible. The Expedition Reliability Rating is 3.0 out of 5.0, which ranks it 7th out of 14 for full-size SUVs.
