The M3 Edition 50 Jahre starts at $96,695, $14,900 more than the “regular” M3 Competition xDrive on which it’s based. The M3 Competition packs an S58 3.0-liter twin-turbo I-6 engine officially making (wink, wink) 503 hp and 479 lb-ft of torque. Coursing through an eight-speed automatic, that (underrated) output hits every tire via M-tuned xDrive all-wheel drive, which you can put in a rear-drive-only setting if you’re feeling brave or silly or both. Any passerby will notice the M3 Edition 50 Jahre’s alluring colors, but real M-heads will appreciate its subtle touches. Carbon fiber is applied to the roof, front splitter, rear spoiler, and surrounds for the four titanium exhaust tips.
Distinctive accouterment are presented to those lucky enough to find themselves inside an M3 Edition 50 Jahre, too. Beyond door sills bearing the edition’s name, the cabin is anointed with carbon-fiber trim, which on the cupholder cover bears a metal plate inscribed with that particular car’s number in the run. Comfortable sport seats or aggressive yet supportive carbon buckets are the only interior option. Whichever is chosen, they’re upholstered with black leather tied together by a unique application of M-color contrast stitching. Those colors also decorate the drive selector knob, seat belts, and headrests. The wheels are the same 826M design that’s available on the standard M3 Competition, but they’re finished in a dark grey color exclusive to the Jahre edition. Jahre comes to in only 5 exclusive colors and ours is in absolutely stunning Lime Rock Gray!
