“Damn! My Cybertruck Delivery Just Got Delayed!”

Production is delayed until 2022 after being originally scheduled for the end of 2021.

As of January 6, 2022, Tesla removed the Cybertruck’s production timeline from its website (I watch it every day)…so when will I get my Cybertruck?

We’ve heard from a number of Cybertruck buyers and MiamiCars.com readers, concerned about delays and looking for information (Tesla makes its announcements via Elon Musk and Twitter). After all, the Model 3 was delayed, so it’s not really a huge surprise that Tesla would announce a delay in Cybertruck production and delivery dates — especially since the Cybertruck will be built at Tesla’s new factory in Austin, Texas.

When Tesla revealed the other-worldly Cybertruck electric pickup in late 2019, it promised that production would begin in late 2021. Now, according to Tesla’s website, production will begin in 2022. (Interestingly, that’s when Ford’s F-150 Lightning will begin production. That will be an interesting moment in auto history).

You can still plunk down your money and get in line…

Tesla’s official website mentioned that people who booked Cybertruck will be able to complete their configuration when production nears in 2022. Now, the page simply says that ‘as production nears’, eliminating the timeline. Pricing starts at $39,900 for the Single Motor RWD model.

Tesla is still accepting $100 refundable deposits for the Cybertruck. According to the company’s website, pricing starts at $39,900 for the Single Motor RWD model, which is claimed to offer more than 250 miles of range and reach 60 mph in less than 6.5 seconds. The Dual Motor AWD model is priced starting at $49,900, and it boasts a claimed range of more than 300 miles and a zero-to-60-mph launch in under 4.5 seconds. The Tri Motor is the top tier model, starting at $69,900, and can travel over 500 miles on a single charge and reach 60 mph in under 2.9 seconds.

Production of the GMC Hummer EV Edition 1 electric pickup is scheduled for this fall, and the Rivian R1T Launch Edition electric truck, although recently delayed, will reach customers in September, the company says. Chevrolet also has an electric Silverado pickup claiming 400 miles of range coming in either 2023 or 2024, and Ram says it’ll build an EV 1500 pickup by 2024.
