Hold my beer. I’m getting one of these.
This Corvette screams Ferrari killer and it’s rumored to start at under $60,000! That’s for a car that can do 0 to 60 in what’s believed to be less than 3 seconds. That is unholy insanity.
Of course, the killer part is not that it’s fast. It’s not even that it’ll start at under $60,000 (although, that is pretty outrageous for a supercar.)
The killer part is that, finally, after decades of concept cars, finally, we have a proper mid engined Corvette. For those of you who don’t get why that’s important, let me put it plainly:
- Engine in front puts too much weight in front
- Engine in front puts less weight on rear tires
- Less weight on rear tires equals fish tailing at high speed turns or wet turns.
Of course, that’s why Ferraris, Lamborghinis, and Indy race cars all have engines behind the cockpit. Performance people.
Now, that we’ve explained the physics, let’s talk about the looks. I think the Corvette is a sexy beast. It does have some lines that make it look like a Ferrari, but that doesn’t bother me. What does bug me are the tail lights, which have an almost Camaro like appearance. In my humble opinion, Corvettes shouldn’t even smell like Camaros.
Nevertheless, I think the boys (and girls – let’s be inclusive) at the bowtie company known as Chevy have hit a homerun with this new car. But hey, that’s my opinion. What do you think? Is this a sexy beast?
