Tesla announced that it will open its fifth South Florida dealership with service center in Miami Gardens in April, after some facility remodeling. The Austin, Texas-based electric carmaker operates service centers in Coral Gables, Fort Lauderdale, Delray Beach and West Palm Beach. This would also be its ninth sales center in the tri-county region.
Tesla’s new facility, featuring 25,750 square feet and located at 20900 N.W. Second Ave., was previously an Infinity dealership. West Palm Beach-based AutoBuilders has beed hired to handle the renovation. “Tesla is very active in the market, and we expect many more opportunities with them, nationwide,” AutoBuilders President and CEO Robert W. Rawe said.
Tesla delivered 936,172 vehicles worldwide in 2021, an 87% increase from the prior year. The company does not break out sales by state, but having more of its cars on the road would require more service capabilities in South Florida. Tesla employs a direct sales model and doesn’t work through third-party dealers.
Florida ranks second nationally for registered electric vehicles with 58,160 as of June 2021, trailing only California, according to the U.S. Department of Energy.
