If you can read this ad, then “yes” the vehicle is still for sale.

My ads are brutally honest but it cuts down on unnecessary calls.

I’ve included as much info below as I can. If you have any other questions, make an appointment to come see it.

1968 OLDSMOBILE 442 COUPE

OVERVIEW
The guy I bought it from spent a lot of money to build the engine, transmission and rear end then sold it to me to finance the restoration of one of his other cars.

This is NOT a project car. Like any 55 year old car, it does need some cosmetic items but the heavy lifting is already done.

DRIVETRAIN
In 68, only the Hurst 442 came with the 455 so the motor is a transplant.

The block stamping is 396021F which is correct for a 68-72 455 cubic inch 455 engine.

The heads are Edelbrock, aluminum topped with aluminum Offenhauser finned valve covers.

The carburetor is a Holley 4150 750 cfm double-pumper mounted on an Edelbrock Performer series single-plane aluminum intake manifold.

The ignition system is composed of:
* MSD Pro-Billet HEI Distributor
* MSD Blaster 2 Coil
* MSD 6 AL Digital Ignition Box
* MSD 8.5mm Spark Plug Wires

The transmission is a modified GM 700r4 4-speed automatic from the mid 1980s.

I was told that it went to a well-known transmission shop in Maryland and was built to handle 700 hp/tq and currently has a 3500 rpm high stall torque converter.

The rear end is the factory GM 12-bolt and it was upgraded with Moser axles

From what I can see, all of the parts used in the engine and drivetrain are high quality and the workmanship appears to be professionally done, all of which matches what the former owner told me.

PERFORMANCE
This is an old-school high performance muscle car that does NOT include any of the following modern conveniences:
* Anti-lock braking
* Rev limiter
* Traction control
* Launch control
* Stability control
* Forward Collision Warning
* Lane Departure Assist
You will need to govern the use of your right foot to control the vehicle.

EXTERIOR
The paint looks great even at 5 feet.

It has a few areas of bubbling that need to be addressed and there is two spots about the size of your hand where it was touched up by an amateur and needs to be redone.

However, it does not need a lot of paint and bodywork.

The paint looks good, the panels are straight and it’s definitely not a rust bucket.

The floor pans appear to have been replaced.

If you look at the rear quarter panels, trunk and even inside the front fenders all seem to be solid.

The wheels are classic old school 15” chrome Cragars and they are pitted. They may be able to be polished up. I was going to replace them anyway so I really didn’t pay that much attention to the condition.

INTERIOR
The vinyl is in excellent shape. There are no scratches or cuts of any kind.

The vinyl on all of the seating is beautiful.

The plastic back pieces for the bucket seats were painted poorly with a brush. Those back pieces will need to be replaced.

The seatbelts are good.

Door panels are decent.

There are a couple small pieces of plastic that were patched into the dash for switches. Those will need to be fixed or replaced.

The dash pad looks good. I just noticed 1 small crack very close to the windshield that can only be seen standing outside of the car and looking in.

Some of the knobs and small parts in the interior are pitted and need to be replaced.

The center console was removed when they swapped the transmission to a 700r4 and a B&M competition shifter is bolted right to the floor. It looks clean and minimalistic like most street/strip machines but if you want a console it will need to be added.

The carpet looks new.

The two little wing panels between the rear deck and the headliner are bad. The vinyl is coming apart, but that’s pretty common on a-body’s

The headliner is great.

The viser hardware is loose. I haven’t really looked at it, so I don’t know what the cause is.

No AC

SUMMARY
All in all, its pretty solid. Everything that needs to be replaced is pretty much cosmetic. Overall I give it a 8.5 out of 10 and my scale is probably much harsher than most people.

PRICE
The price is $27,500 cash
Clean Florida title in my name.
