Purchased in 2013 from a guy in San Diego, it had a fresh coat of paint and it was mostly original. Over the years I made all of the improvements/changes listed below, however after 10 years of enjoying this beautiful truck the time has come to part ways with it. The 1964 El Camino is the only year Chevy badged “Chevelle” onto their trucks. It has won dozens of car show awards, a real head turner when you pull into Costco or Home Depot for some supplies. Yes, I even used it to haul boats, trailers and trips to Goodwill. Body, interior & chrome in very good condition. It has stayed here locally in Montgomery, Texas since I drove it out from San Diego in 2014. The engine was replaced a few years later with a 350 Vortec that is reasonable on gas consumption. Note the AC system has a leak and is not currently blowing cold air. Overall this truck runs very strong and does not overheat in traffic. It pains me to sell, but it is time someone else enjoys the fruits of my labor. Asking $26,500… or best offer, no trade offers please.

Original engine. Stock. Car has a reconstruct title when I bought it. Had the frame checked and it’s straight. Replaced and upgraded ALL suspension front to rear. Lowering Springs, struts, upper and lower ball joints, sway bars, control arms, tie rods, end links, 15:1 ratio rack and pinion, upper and lower trailing arms(BBK) brakes. Stage two clutch. Engine is strong. Makes a great driving project. Handling is superb. No trades! Trying to downsize.
Original 352 Big Block FE engine bored to 390 and professionally rebuilt by a racing shop in Dallas. Has a mild cam, aluminum Edelbrock intake with custom mods, Edelbrock 650cfm carb with a 2” riser, hi compression. Edelbrock aluminum water pump, hi performance oil pump. Headers into dual Flomaster mufflers give it a nice rumble. All wiring replaced, MFS ignition and coil, Pertronix distributor with electronic ignition chip under distributor cap (original dual points available), 100A alternator, new radiator with added fan shroud. Very strong motor, loaded with torque. Has about 20K miles since rebuild and wiring replaced. Runs great, starts first time every time.
There is an oxygen sensor on the exhaust and an air / fuel ratio gauge along with a vacuum pressure gauge for tuning. It runs very well, no smoke, can keep up with anything up and down hills and on the highway. It loves hot weather and with the new radiator and added fan shroud is ready if you want to add A/C.
Transmission is a TKO 600 5 speed overdrive on the floor with a Hurst shifter. The driveshaft is oversized from original equipment. The original rear end was replaced with a Ford 9 bolt with internals rebuilt with positrac, Strange Engineering axles, Detroit locker, and a few other add ons inside. Caltracs Traction bars. Clutch is fine and was replaced at the time of original rebuild.Power steering and front power brakes were added somewhere along the way with somewhat later vintage hardware. The rear brakes are original drum. All pads and shoes and alignment are fine.Heavy duty rear leaf springs were just replaced about 2K miles ago. The cab bushings were replaced with the leaf springs, and the back half of the frame was painted at the same time, about 2K miles ago. It rides straight, smooth and steady down the road.
The tires have about 8K miles on them, lots of good tread remaining. I have a pair of 10” rims (included) which were on the rear but I switched to have them all match on 8” rims and allow rotation. With 10” rims on the rear the stance looks really nice. The interior has recently had the bench seat redone with added headrests made after a Ford parts drawing from this vintage. There are added 3 pt harness shoulder belts. Retrosound AM/FM/Sat bluetooth radio. The gauges are New Vintage 1940 series and were replaced with the wiring (the original instrument panel is available). The front and rear window seals were replaced last year with the bushings. The side window and door seals were replaced. All the glass is original. The window regulators, arm rests, gas tank, side mirrors, hood springs and horns have all been replaced. The original paint is Rangoon Red, and other than the surface rust patina has been left untouched. Very minimal rust overall. There was a dent in the passenger door that has been repaired and primered. There is no rust on the frame. The truck was built originally in San Jose, CA.
The rear bumper is a very solid commercial bumper. It has a trailer hitch that is not currently mounted. The bed is full size and will hold a 4’x8’ sheet. The hold down bolts were replaced when the cab bushings were replaced and the frame painted. There is a new full size spare tire mounted under the bed. The camper special included a tool box in the side of the bed, and this is operable, lockable, and has a jack and full tool kit inside.
