The Kia Soul is a compact crossover type hatchback manufactured in South Korea and marketed globally beginning with model year 2010. Soul was designed at Kia’s design center in California having a sloping roof line and a trunk on the hatchback. The Soul is hard to describe; it looks like a small SUV, but it doesn’t come with all-wheel drive. Soul earned a maximum 5 star safety rating from Euro NCAP. According to NCAP, the 5 star safety rating placed Kia Soul among the safest B segment family cars in the world. The Soul was also awarded Top Safety Pick from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. It has been considered both a small crossover type wagon and hatchback.
